CALL FOR ARTICLE PROPOSALS for AGG+ Special Issue on "Earthquake Engineering"

Dear Authors,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to contribute to the AGG+ Journal for Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Related Fields thematic issue for 2024 with the title "Earthquake Engineering".

We are witnessing the occurrence of destructive earthquakes with catastrophic consequences for buildings and human lives. Recent earthquakes in Turkey, Syria, and Morocco confirm this. Additionally, the subduction of the Adriatic microplate under the Eurasian plate, causing constant shaking in our country and the region, has also led to recent earthquakes in neighbouring Croatia. This sends a message that stronger earthquakes with undesirable consequences can be expected here as well.

Our obligation is to ensure the seismic resilience of structures in the design and construction of various-purpose buildings, applying regulations and methodologies that guarantee their seismic resistance. In this regard, it is necessary, first and foremost, to use adequate input data, which depend on local terrain conditions, seismicity of specific areas, information systems and databases, the type of construction and purpose of the building, and appropriate methods of design and construction within technical regulations. It is crucial that our technical regulations, with adequate national parameters, are adapted to European standards – Eurocodes for structural design. In this sense, research is of utmost importance to complement missing adequate data for reference peak ground accelerations, as well as research on possible seismic responses of different types of building structures in seismic areas.

The objectives of this special journal edition are for civil engineers, surveyors, architects, seismology researchers, and experts from related fields in our country and the surrounding region to present work methodologies, theoretical and numerical procedures, field research, their experiences, and the results of scientific research and practice in this field. The aim is also to highlight the main directions of development in earthquake engineering and engineering seismology in our country and region.

If you are interested in writing an article for the thematic issue and publishing your academic work with AGG+, please contact Editorial Office at aggplus@aggf.unibl.org. The abstracts are to be submitted on December 24, 2023, and full papers on March 1, 2024. The AGG+ journal will have a distinct design for this special edition.
