In urban areas (in cities), there is often a need for a construction in zones of already constructed facilities and infrastructure. Also, there is an increasing number of cars, resulting in a need for increased parking spaces. In solving this problem, the provision of underground parking spaces is often imposed as the only possible solution. Often, the construction ofsuch facilitiesis conditioned by a very complex situation, both regarding the impact of existing facilities, as well as geomechanical parameters and groundwater. An optimal solution is expected from the designer. This paper will describe a design approach in the construction of a three‐level underground garage in very complex founding conditions.
